Compact Footprint with BIG CAPACITY AND SPEED!

The DC-4 high-speed machine provides the perfect combination of speed and power to reduce cycle times.

The DC-4/40 is a gantry style drill and tap machine with 2,500 mm of X-axis travel, designed to handle long, narrow parts or high density production setups. The gantry mounted spindle head travels in the X and Z axes, while the table moves in the Y-axis and is fully supported along its length to accommodate heavier workpieces.

A 10,000 rpm, 40 taper spindle and high speed, 20 tool turret style tool changer help minimise tool change times and reduce cycle times. Optional 12,000 rpm and 15,000 rpm spindles are available for even greater productivity.

Ideal for the construction, automotive and aerospace industries, the DC-4/40 can machine parts up to 2,500 mm long and 500 mm wide, including extrusions, steel channel, angle iron and pipe.

• 2,500 mm X-axis travel for long parts and high density production
• 10,000 rpm, 40 taper spindle, optional 12,000 rpm and 15,000 rpm versions available
• High speed, 20 tool turret style tool changer
• Rear chip discharge with front chip flush system

The ultra-fast, turret-style tool changers on the DC series machines yield tool-to-tool times as fast as 1.25 seconds, and chip-to-chip times as fast as 2.25 seconds to minimise cut-to-cut times and shorten cycle times.

  • Automation ready – Cobot
  • User-friendly Haas control
  • High-performance spindles
  • Easy 4th- and 5th-axis integration

DC-4/40 high speed drill centre; 2,500 x 500 x 300 mm, BT40 taper, 11.2 kW inline direct drive spindle, 10,000 rpm, 30.5 m/min X-axis rapids, 35.6 m/min Y and Z axis rapids, high speed 20 tool turret style tool changer, early power failure detection module, 1 GB program memory, Haas control widescreen display, USB port, Ethernet and WiFi connectivity, memory lock keyswitch, rigid tapping, 568 litre flood coolant system with multi stage coolant pump.

Introducing the DC-4/40

Bryan introduces the Haas DC-4/40 Drill Centre and explains why it’s the ideal solution for machining long parts at high speed. With 2,500 mm of X axis travel, a high speed 20 tool turret style tool changer and rear chip discharge, the DC-4/40 is designed to minimise cut to cut times and maximise productivity. Its gantry style design provides excellent rigidity and supports heavier workpieces, making it ideal for long extrusions, structural components and high density production across the construction, automotive and aerospace industries.

Wireless Intuitive Probing System

Drastically reduce setup times on your high-speed machine

Automate your high-speed machine’s setup process with the Haas Wireless Intuitive Probing System (WIPS). WIPS is a complete probing package that includes the spindle probe, tool setting probe, and optical machine interface. Furthermore, powerful software that guides the operator through the job setup process with intuitive, easy-to-use templates. WIPS allows you to quickly and easily define work offset coordinates. Additionally, set tool length offsets, and perform in-process inspection.

How We Build VMCs Today

Back in the late 1980s we started building our first VMC, the VF-1.

Today, our process is finely tuned and extremely efficient for a machine that is still hand built to a great extent. Take a look at how we build the same VF that may be sitting on your shop floor not too long from now.
