Haas SL-40L Longbed Lathe
Featuring a 381 mm chuck (options up to 610 mm) and an A2-8 spindle nose that provides bar capacity of 100 mm, the SL-40L also comes with a 40-hp (peak) vector dual-drive system and a high-torque gearbox. These combine to yield 1,400 ft-lb of spindle torque for heavy cutting, and speeds to 2,400 rpm for finish work and high surface feedrates. On-the-fly wye-delta switching provides the high torque and wide constant-horsepower band necessary for constant surface speed cuts.
A host of high-productivity options, such as a tool presetter, parts catcher, chip auger and tailstock, are available for the SL-40L to further boost productivity, and the Haas Servo Bar 300 bar feeder may be added for unattended operation.
The Haas Big Bore option provides larger bar capacity and more power without moving up to a larger machine. The SL-40L Big Bore maintains the same drive system, but with higher ratio gearing plus upgrades to an A2-11 spindle and up to 178 mm bar capacity (165 mm with a draw tube).
